When looking for styling inspiration, I turn to street style blogs to see what ‘everyday’ people are wearing. The best part of street style blogs is when the photographers capture that special fashion moment–the kind where you see a gorgeous woman or man walking down the street and you can’t stop but stare at their unique style and sense of confidence. A perfect example is famed supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw.
You’ve seen her on the covers and editorials of magazines, huge ad campaigns, and runways. To me, my favorite pictures of her are on the street in outfits styled by her. The newest trend that she started is the sheer maxi skirt. Maxi skirts are tough to style for everyday style, but with the right proportions it can work for everyone. Take a look at a couple of her on trend outfits below.
In the first image, she portrays a funkier side to the maxi skirt by adding a cropped jacket in a unique color and bold shoulders. Her bright rimmed sunglasses and red bag are great accessories to this edgy outfit.
TRY THIS: Mix a dark maxi skirt with bright statement jewelry. Make sure that the top and bottoms are similar in color palette so it doesn’t overpower the bright jewelry.
The second is my personal favorite. I am in love with the mix of different shades of neutrals and the assymetrical jacket with the textured sheer dress bring about a more sensual feel. Her orange-red lips were the best finishing touch, don’t you think?
TRY THIS: Copy Abbey’s look by pairing a funky beige dress with a lighter or darker shade. It can either be a cropped jacket, blazer, or accessories!
Sticking to a darker palette with a punch of color is the perfect combination for Fall. Here she pairs a flattering purple-gray skirt with a loose gray tunic, fitted velvet coat, and amazing round glasses.
TRY THIS: Pair a fun skirt with a neutral top. Keep the top colors dark and minimal so that the statement is the skirt. Or try it the other way around and pair a dark skirt with statement top pieces!
Last image..gorgeous. Enough said. The way the dark beige tunic flows so well into the sheer skirt makes for a flattering silhouette.
TRY THIS: Make sure to not wear a top that will bunch up or has an unflattering shape. Go for the asymmetrical tops to add interest.
Though we currently do not have any sheer skirts on our site, we do have some fun maxi dresses that you can instantly turn into a skirt by putting a sheer top over, creating a similar effect. I suggest pairing this maxi dress and sheer leopard print tunic by MinkPink together. For more sheer pieces, we have this top and gray pullover by Plastic Island, and this fun sheer blouse by MinkPink. Make sure to keep checking DJ Premium to see the latest fashions!
