Vivienne Westwood Fall 2010 If you’re politically weak at heart (or completely apathetic) you might not want to sit front row at a Vivienne Westwood show. She’ll toughen you up, and show you how chic the Left can be. For fall 2010 she tackled gender binaries, marriage equality, global warming, the homeless problem and threw a little [...]
The setting for the men’s (capsule) show was almost as impressive as scouting the over 100 fall 2010 collections of fashion’s newest and most innovative labels. The brands were split between two locations, both located in the hippest neighborhoods of New York City and, as usual, it did not disappoint. The first half of the trade show [...]

The Plastiscines at Kate Moss‘ Longchamp party
The Plastiscines are one of the many teenage rock bands to come from France, a group of bands collectively called les bébés rockers.
One of the many reasons why these girls have caught the attention of fashion’s heavy-hitters (most recently the band made an appearance at Kate Moss‘ Longchamp party at the Ritz Paris) is their impeccable, effortless style français.
Anyone can get the look in three easy steps: Menswear-inspired outerwear and shoes, Statement-making tights and leggings and an IT-bag to complete the look:

YSL pre-fall 2010
Stefano Pilati, creative director for Yves Saint Laurent, epitomized edgy sophistication with his Pre-fall 2010 collection. Taking a blow at the recession–who’s grip on the economy is steadily losing power–he lengthened hemlines almost to the floor.
If anything else, Pilati proved that the YSL woman is comfortable with her own skin, if not anything else in the world:

After recently previewing the collection at the (capsule) trade show, KR3W gives us a closer look at their much anticipated footwear line.
The styles are contemporary, polished, yet of course still meant to serve their purpose as skate sneakers.
KR3W is known for their premium street apparel including graphic tees, flannel shirts, super clean denim and more.
Four different models are shown here: The Franklin, Jackson, Grant (seen above) and Grant Low.
Is KR3W onto something here? My personal favorite is the Jackson, with its fresh dress shoe look.
Cop or drop these kicks?
While you wait for release dates to be announced, check out KR3W apparel on DJPremium.com by clicking HERE.

Being a piece that is often thought of as athletic or casual urban wear, the hoodie has been reinvented on spring 2010 runways.
Uniquely shaped jackets, cape-like coats, anoraks, windbreakers and more are all fashionably rocking hoods in various fabrics.
It was in the 1930s that this piece was created by none other than Champion. Hoodies kept American laborers warm in the frozen warehouses of New York where they worked.
Nas in a Champion hoodie
However, the hoodie can be dated as far back as the Middle Ages, when Catholic monks added a cowl (long hood) to their standard robes.
It began gaining popularity in the 1970s for various reasons.
Hip hop culture was on the rise, and the hoodie fit right in as an easily thrown on, sporty urban look.
It also provided a simple disguise for criminals. A couple of years ago, it was announced that some public schools in New Jersey banned their students from wearing hoodies, because they can easily hide weapons, drugs etc. in their large pockets, as well as conceal their identities from hallway cameras.
The hoodie was introduced into the world of high fashion in the same decade, when designers incorporated it into their collections in more formal ways.
We can’t forget the 1976 hit film Rocky, which has received a lot of credit for the hoodie becoming a staple athletic garment.
Since then, everyone from skaters to rappers and your classic all American college students have adopted it. Retailers like the Gap and American Apparel praise the hoodie for remaining a best seller for years upon years.
For this spring 2010, Balenciaga and Rick Owens have taken the hoodie to new heights. “I like the simplicity and universal application: Christ wore a hood, the Unabomber wore a hood, Grace Jones wore a hood, Dante wore a hood,” said Owens.
More proof that this is one piece that will always have a place in our closets.
